Description

This Mighty Mini Mustang takes you into a whole new realm with its ability to be flown in smaller environments now!  You get all the fun and excitement of a large mustang, but now the convenience of a mini size area for your experience!

The P-51 is definitely one of the most iconic airplanes of all time and this one sheet foam board airplane kit is a great way to experience the great flight characteristics of this icon. Using 4 channels, and the power of a 2204 size brushless motor which can often be found on mini racing quads, the Mini Mustang has more than enough power for endless vertical climb, and most basic aerobatic maneuvers such as knife edge. With it's wide flight envelope, this little Mustang can fly slow enough to be easily flown at a decent sized park.

This includes the airframe only (no electronics).

A bit tight inside, but flies great

For the most part, this plane goes together quite easily. However, I found that there is very limited space inside for the electronics. However, with some fiddling, I was able to fit a comparatively large reciever (FrSky D8R-II Plus) and a 1100 MaH 3S battery. In the air and flying, the plane looks and flies great. Perfect for a good size park with a baseball field. I would build again, and look forward to my next FT plane.

Oh what a blast!

Building was pretty easy and straightforward. Took me total of maybe hour and a half. Flying was a BLAST! Fast, like really fast. But stable and accurate. I used 1804 motor with a spinner, but it didn't lose in performance not one bit. I will slow down to a crawl for landing when landing it into the wind. I'm really stunned. The only thing I'll do different next time is reinforcing the control surfaces with tape instead of the thin layer of hot glue. Because if you don't do it right, control surfaces get to stiff. For the mini Corsair I'm using U-Haul paper packing tape. It's the same color as the waterproof foam board and I holds the spray paint just as well. Thanks guys! How about a mini P-40 for your next design project? (:
